About UEG
Built for engineers who want to do great work.
If you’re a senior engineer thinking about independent practice — or already practicing independently and looking for better projects — this page is for you.

Who we’re looking for
Find the structure that fits where you are.
Tier 1 – Established Firms
You’re already running a practicing firm with your own infrastructure, staff, and administrative capacity. You don’t need UEG to run your business. You want access to a curated project network and a collaborative delivery platform.
- Access to UEG’s client and project network
- Prime contract management — UEG holds the client contract
Tier 2 – Independent Practitioner
You’ve already made the move to independent practice. You’re incorporated, registered, and delivering work — but the admin side takes time away from engineering. UEG gives you the network plus optional support to take what’s useful off your plate.
- UEG email address and document templates
- Optional: bookkeeping, accounting, IT (MS365), document support
Tier 3 – New Company Setup
You have the expertise, the professional standing, and the drive to work independently — but you haven’t yet built the business platform. UEG provides the full setup: incorporation guidance, bookkeeping, IT, accounting, and access to the project network from day one.
- Full business setup support — incorporation guidance, CRA setup, IT onboarding
- Ongoing bookkeeping, accounting, and admin support
- Microsoft 365 and UEG email
- Project network access and mentorship from day one
what we look for
Our partner criteria
| Technical Excellence | Deep, project-relevant expertise in one or more of UEG’s core service areas. |
| Accountability | You own your commitments. You communicate early when something’s going wrong. |
| Environmental Responsibility | You take environmental outcomes seriously — not as a compliance exercise. |
| Professional Culture | You’re the kind of professional that clients and colleagues want to work with again. |
| P.Eng Registration | Active registration in applicable Canadian jurisdictions. |
| Professional Insurance | Current E&O and general liability coverage (minimums discussed at onboarding). |
There’s no formal application process. If you think you might be a good fit for the UEG network, reach out and tell us a bit about yourself — your background, the kind of work you do, and what you’re looking for.
One of the founding partners will respond personally. We’ll have an honest conversation about whether there’s a fit — and if there is, we’ll walk you through the details.
